1) Will the DynaLock EML-4 electrified mortise lock drop into an existing Schlage L9000 prep?
Yes. The EML Series is built to retrofit the Schlage L9000 Series, so the door and frame prep you already have for an L9000 mortise lock carries over. That makes it a practical swap when you are electrifying an opening that already runs Schlage mortise hardware.
2) Can I order the EML-4 privacy with deadbolt lock as fail-safe?
No. The privacy with deadbolt function is fail-secure (EU) only. The EML Series as a family has a field-selectable fail-safe/fail-secure mode, but that selection is not offered on the privacy with deadbolt function. If you need the lever to unlock on power loss, you need a different EML function.
3) What happens at the door when power is applied or dropped on an EML-4 privacy deadbolt lock?
With power applied, the outside lever retracts the latchbolt, unless the deadbolt has been thrown from inside, which blocks outside lever entry. Key from outside or lever from inside retracts both latchbolt and deadbolt. The inside lever is always free, so egress is immediate regardless of power or deadbolt state. Being fail-secure, a power loss leaves the outside lever locked.
4) What voltage and current does the DynaLock EML mortise lock need from the power supply?
It runs on 12-24 VAC/VDC input. Draw is 700mA at 12 VDC and 350mA at 24 VDC. Size the supply for the higher figure if you are running 12 volts, and remember a long wire run at 12V with 700mA will show more voltage drop than the same run at 24V.
5) Is the EML electrified mortise lock approved for a labeled fire door?

9) Do I have to specify handing when ordering a DynaLock EML lock?
