1) What are the outside dimensions of the Eaton B-Line 422 HC CT utility enclosure?
The 422 HC CT cabinet measures 48 inches high, 34 inches wide and 13 inches deep. Those are the numbers to check against your wall space and any clearance the serving utility requires in front of the cabinet before you set the mounting.
2) Is the 422 HC enclosure suitable for outdoor meter and CT installations?
It is a Type 3 enclosure, which is the outdoor rating for rain, sleet and windblown dust, so it is intended for exterior wall service installations as well as indoor ones. It ships in ANSI 61 gray paint, the standard utility finish.
3) What is the difference between a ring feed and a lug feed CT cabinet, and which is this?
The 422 HC is a ring type CT cabinet. Ring feed means the service conductors pass through current transformers rather than terminating on feed lugs inside the box, which is what most utilities specify for metered services above the range of a self-contained socket. If your utility's drawing calls for a lug type termination, this is not the cabinet for that opening.
4) How does the B-Line 422 HC CT cabinet mount to the wall?
Side mounting. The fastening points are on the sides of the enclosure rather than through the back pan, so you need clear access down both sides of the box after it is positioned, and your unistrut or wall backing has to be laid out to the 34 inch width rather than an internal bolt pattern.
5) Is the ANSI 61 paint on this CT enclosure a finish I can match to existing gear?
ANSI 61 gray is the standard switchgear and utility equipment color, so the 422 HC lines up visually with most panelboards, switchboards and meter gear already on the wall. It is a painted steel finish, not stainless, so exterior installs in coastal or corrosive air will need the usual touch-up on any field-drilled holes.
