B-LINE 626012-4XSS6FD3PT – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will a NEMA 4X stainless enclosure like the B-Line 4XSS6FD3PT hold up to washdown and coastal salt air?
The 4XSS6FD3PT is built in 316 stainless steel with a NEMA 4X rating, so it is intended for hose-down, corrosive and salt-air locations rather than dry indoor use. 316 is the marine and chemical-duty grade of stainless, and the seal comes from a seamless poured in-place gasket instead of a cut-and-glued gasket that can wick water at the joint. Finish is #4 brushed.
2) What are the actual outside dimensions of the 626012-4XSS6FD3PT enclosure, and how much pad space do I need?
Dimensions are 62 inches height, 60 inches width and 12 inches depth. It is a ground-mount box on legs, so plan the concrete pad for the 60 x 12 inch footprint plus room to swing the double doors, and remember the legs add height above the 62 inch body. Weight is 446.2 lb empty, which is a two-person plus equipment set, not a hand carry.
3) Does this Eaton B-Line enclosure mount on a wall or does it stand on its own?
It is a ground-mounted enclosure, supplied with ground mount legs. There is no wall-mount provision here, so it is meant to be anchored to a pad or slab out in the field. If the job calls for hanging the box on a wall or on strut, you need a wall-mount NEMA 4X enclosure instead.
4) Is this enclosure UL listed for a spec job, and is it made in the USA?
It carries UL 50, the standard for enclosures for electrical equipment, and country of origin is the US. Those are the two lines a government, healthcare or education submittal usually wants alongside the NEMA 4X rating.
5) Will a 12 inch deep enclosure give me enough room for a panelboard and wire bending space?
Depth is 12 inches overall, measured outside, so usable interior depth is slightly less once you account for the 12 gauge wall and the door return. That suits panelboards, disconnects, terminal blocks and control gear of moderate depth. Deep VFDs or stacked back-to-back gear generally want more than 12 inches, so check your device depth plus gutter space before committing.
6) Can I drill or punch conduit entries in a NEMA 4X stainless enclosure without losing the rating?
Yes, but only with 4X-rated hubs or fittings. The 4X rating on this 316 stainless box depends on the seamless poured in-place gasket and sealed penetrations, so any field-cut opening has to be closed with a watertight, corrosion-resistant hub. Bottom entries are the usual choice on a ground-mounted box to keep water off the seal.
7) What is the exact part number to order this B-Line ground mount enclosure?
Order it as Eaton B-Line 626012-4XSS6FD3PT. The number reads out the size and type: 62 inch height, 60 inch width, 12 inch depth, NEMA 4X, 316 stainless, free-standing double door with 3-point latch.
