It's a 45 degree vertical outside bend for Eaton B-Line imperial cable tray, model 4A-06-45VO12. It takes the tray run over an obstruction or down off a ceiling line by turning the run 45 degrees with the bend curving away from the cable bundle, so the cables ride over the outside of the radius. It's the counterpart to a vertical inside bend, which turns the run the other way with the cables on the inside of the curve.

Work to a 12 inch bend radius and allow 13.607 inches of length for the fitting itself. That radius is what governs your clearance above or below the obstruction, so dimension the elevation change from the 12 inch centerline radius rather than from the overall length.

It carries a CSA certification, which is what an inspector on a Canadian project will look for on cable tray and fittings.

This one is aluminum. That's the usual choice where weight matters on the hanger spacing or where you want corrosion resistance without galvanizing, and it makes overhead handling easier for a two-man crew. The fitting weighs 4.156 lb. If your spec calls out steel tray, don't mix an aluminum fitting into the run.

The 4A-06-45VO12 is supplied as the bend section itself. Splice plates, bolts and nuts to join it to the adjoining straight tray sections are ordered separately, along with any supports needed at the change in elevation. Plan on two splice connections per fitting, one at each end.

Both change the elevation of a tray run. On an outside bend, like this 45 degree unit, the tray turns so the cables travel over the convex side of the curve, which is what you use going up over a beam or dropping off the underside of a deck. An inside bend puts the cables on the concave side and handles the opposite turn. A run that goes up and then levels off needs one of each.
