The B-Line 4A-36-VT12 is a three-way fitting that takes a straight tray run and drops a branch downward, so you get a tee where the branch changes elevation instead of staying in the same horizontal plane. It is built for 36 inch wide, 4 inch deep aluminum ladder tray in the Series 2-5 imperial line, and the downward transition is formed on a 12 inch radius so conductors stay within bend limits as they turn down. If your branch needs to go up rather than down, that is a vertical tee up fitting, not this part.

The 12 inch radius sets how gently the tray turns as the branch drops. Power and data cables have a minimum bend radius, and a larger fitting radius gives the conductors more room to make the turn without damage. B-Line builds these vertical fittings in several radii; the 4A-36-VT12 is the 12 inch version, so if your cable spec calls for a larger bend radius you want the same fitting in a bigger radius instead.

Aluminum is what this tee is made from, and it is the usual choice where weight and corrosion resistance matter, including outdoor and washdown areas, because it does not rely on a coating the way plated steel does. Steel tray is generally chosen where higher load capacity per span is the driver. Keep the fitting material the same as the run it splices into so you are not mixing aluminum and steel at the joint.

The 4A-36-VT12 is supplied as the fitting itself. Splice plates, hardware and hangers for cable tray are ordered as separate line items in the B-Line system, so plan on three sets of splice connections for this tee, one at each opening, plus supports on both sides of the fitting.

Order Eaton B-Line 4A-36-VT12. In that designation the 4A is the 4 inch aluminum rail, 36 is the tray width, and VT12 is the vertical tee with a 12 inch radius.

It weighs 15.7 lb. On a 36 inch wide fitting that is light enough for one installer to carry, but positioning it overhead on trapeze hangers is a two-person job because of the 15 inch depth of the fitting body and the awkward three-way shape.
