A vertical outside bend carries the tray run up or down where the change in direction puts the cables on the outside of the curve, for example where a run leaves a wall and drops over the edge of a beam or steps down toward equipment. Model 4A-36-90VO36 turns 90 degrees on a 36 inch radius. If the cables sit on the inside of the turn instead (the tray bending back toward itself, such as coming up a wall from a horizontal run below), you want the vertical inside bend of the same series rather than this one. On a drawing, that means the 90 degree transition consumes roughly a yard of run in each direction before your next straight section or support point begins.

Aluminum is what this fitting is made from, and it is the usual pick for corrosion resistance in damp or chemically aggressive areas and for keeping installed weight down. This bend weighs 17.8 lb, which one electrician can handle on a lift without rigging. Where you need higher load capacity for the same span, or the spec calls out hot dip galvanized or stainless, you need the steel equivalent of the fitting rather than this aluminum one.

Plan on splice hardware as a separate line.
