It joins an 18 inch wide tray to a 6 inch wide tray in line, keeping both trays on the same centerline. The 6A-18-SR06 is a Series 2-5 straight reducer in aluminum, 6 inches high and 11.5 inches long, so it takes up just under a foot of run where the width steps down.

A straight reducer keeps the narrower tray centered on the wider tray, so the cable bundle stays in the middle of the run and both side rails step in equally. Pick a right or left hand reducer instead when one side rail has to stay in a continuous straight line, for example when the tray runs tight against a wall or you need one edge aligned for support brackets. The 6A-18-SR06 is the straight, centered version for 18 inch down to 6 inch.

Aluminum is the lighter option and it holds up in damp and corrosive environments without galvanizing. The 6A-18-SR06 reducer weighs 3.2 lb, which is why a single installer can hold it in place at height while starting the splice bolts. If your run is already aluminum tray, stay with aluminum fittings rather than mixing metals at the splice.

Allow 11.5 inches of run for the 6A-18-SR06 itself, measured between the two tray ends it splices to. Plan the transition where you have that clear span with no obstruction, and keep a support within the spacing your tray spec calls for on each side of the fitting.

Order Eaton B-Line part 6A-18-SR06. The number reads as a 6 inch deep aluminum fitting for 18 inch tray, straight reducing to 6 inch. Splice plates and hardware are ordered separately from the fitting itself.
