B-LINE 6A-18-30-HT24 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What is a horizontal expanding tee in a cable tray run, and when do I use one?
A horizontal expanding tee joins three tray runs in the same horizontal plane where the branch or the through-run changes width. The Eaton B-Line 6A-18-30-HT24 is built for an 18 inch tray and a 30 inch tray, so it lets you branch off a run without having to hold one tray width the whole way. If all three legs of your intersection are the same width, you want a straight horizontal tee instead of the expanding version.
2) How much does the 6A-18-30-HT24 cable tray tee weigh for handling and support planning?
39.6 lb. That is a two-man lift overhead at 36 inches long, and it is dead load your trapeze or wall bracket supports carry at the intersection on top of the cable fill. Plan a support near the tee rather than relying on the adjoining tray sections.
3) Does the B-Line expanding tee come with splice plates and hardware?
The 6A-18-30-HT24 is the tee body itself, 18 inches wide by 36 inches long in aluminum. Splice connectors and their hardware are ordered separately for each of the three connection points, as are the hangers or brackets supporting the fitting. Order those with the tee so the crew is not held up at the intersection.
4) Is this cable tray tee CE marked for a spec that calls for it?
CE is the certification carried on the 6A-18-30-HT24 expanding tee. That is the mark to cite if your submittal package asks for it on tray fittings.
5) What is the exact part number to order this 18 by 30 inch expanding tee?
Order Eaton B-Line part 6A-18-30-HT24: 6 inch height, aluminum, 18 and 30 inch tray widths, 24 inch radius horizontal expanding tee. The number reads out of the fitting itself, so quoting it gets you the right depth, widths and radius in one line.
