A vertical inside bend carries the tray run up or down through a 45 degree change in elevation, with the fitting curving toward the inside of the angle (the tray bottom on the inner face of the turn). Eaton B-Line part 6A-42-45VI48 is that fitting in aluminum, built on a 48 inch radius so cable bend radius is maintained through the transition. Use it where a run has to climb over an obstruction or drop to a lower elevation without exceeding cable bend limits.

Both change the elevation of the run, but they curve opposite ways. An inside bend, which is what part 6A-42-45VI48 is, turns with the tray bottom on the concave side of the angle. An outside bend turns the other direction. Get it backwards and the fitting will not sit against the run. Confirm from your elevation drawing which way the tray transitions before ordering, because the two are not interchangeable.

Aluminum is the usual pick for outdoor, damp, wash-down and lightly corrosive environments because it resists corrosion without coating and is far lighter to rig than steel. This fitting weighs 17 pounds, which matters when a two-man crew is setting a 42 inch wide fitting overhead. For direct chemical exposure, check the specific agent against aluminum before committing.

It is CSA certified, which is what an electrical inspector on a Canadian project will be looking for on the tray and its fittings.
