B-LINE AW3024-1PP – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Is the AW3024-1PP a solid back panel or a perforated one?
It is a medium perforated panel, not a solid plate. The perforation pattern gives you a grid of holes to mount components and tie wraps anywhere on the face without drilling and tapping. If you need a blank surface for laying out DIN rail and wireway to your own hole pattern, order a solid steel back panel instead.
2) What NEMA rating does this B-Line back panel carry?
NEMA 1, which is an indoor general purpose rating covering incidental contact with the enclosed equipment. It is not rated for washdown, oil, or outdoor exposure. For a wet or dusty plant floor you want a panel and enclosure package carrying a NEMA 4 or 12 rating instead.
3) Does the AW3024-1PP come with mounting hardware or the enclosure?
The AW3024-1PP is the back panel only, sold as a panel accessory. It is not an enclosure and does not include a box, door, or latch. Back panels of this type mount to the weld studs already in the enclosure, so you need the matching 30 x 24 enclosure and its stud hardware to complete the assembly.
4) Is this panel painted, and what color?
White powder coated steel. The white face makes wire labels and component legends easier to read inside the box and reflects light from a work lamp during troubleshooting. Powder coat over steel also means the panel is not a ground path on its own, so bond it to the enclosure with a paint piercing washer or a dedicated ground stud.
5) How much does the B-Line AW3024-1PP panel weigh for a one-man install?
9.3 pounds bare. One electrician can hang it on the enclosure studs without help, though once you have loaded contactors, a drive, and a transformer on it the assembly gets heavy enough that most shops build the panel on the bench and set it in the enclosure last.
6) How much depth does this back panel take up inside the enclosure?
The panel is listed at 21 inches in depth dimension alongside its 27 by 21 inch face, so plan your component stack off the enclosure's own interior depth. On a standard back panel mount the plate sits close to the rear wall, leaving the balance of the box depth for breakers, relays, and wire bending space to the door.
