B-LINE B106-42ZN – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What strut channel does the B-Line B106-42ZN z-support fit?
The B106-42ZN is made for B42 channel. It is a two hole z-support, so the hole pattern and 1.62 inch width are matched to that channel profile. If your run is a different B-Line channel series, pick the z-support cut for that channel instead of forcing this one.
2) How much offset does a B106-42ZN z-support give between the channel and the mounted item?
One inch of offset. That is what the z-shape buys you: the mounting leg sits 1 inch off the plane of the strut, which is how you clear a flange, a wall irregularity, or a crossing run without adding a second piece of channel. Overall the fitting is 3.5 inches long, 1.62 inches wide and 1 inch high.
3) Can I use a B106-42ZN z-support outdoors or in a damp mechanical room?
The finish is electro-plated zinc over steel, which is an indoor, dry-location finish. It will handle a conditioned mechanical or electrical room fine. For exterior runs, roof decks, wash-down areas or anything with standing moisture, specify a hot-dip galvanized or stainless equivalent fitting instead.
4) Does the B-Line B106-42ZN come with the bolts and channel nuts I need to install it?
No. The B106-42ZN is the z-support fitting on its own. Plan on ordering strut nuts and hardware separately, sized to the B42 channel you are attaching to, plus whatever anchor or fastener the second leg is landing on.
5) What is the actual part number to order for this Eaton B-Line offset z-support?
Order it as B106-42ZN, an Eaton B-Line series strut fitting. The 42 points to B42 channel and the ZN suffix is the electro-plated zinc finish, so a B106 in a different channel size or finish is a different part number.
