B-LINE B281FLZN – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What does a flush-to-side rectangular post base do on a strut column?
It anchors the end of a vertical strut post to a floor or deck with the channel sitting flush to one side of the base plate rather than centered. That offset lets the post sit tight against a wall, curb or adjacent equipment. The B281FLZN is the steel version of that fitting for B22A, B and C channel.
2) What are the dimensions and weight of the B-Line B281FLZN post base?
It measures 8 inches by 3.5 inches by 3 inches and weighs 3.2 pounds. Use the 8 inch dimension when checking your anchor layout and clearance to the wall, since the channel lands flush to one side of the plate rather than in the middle.
3) Is the electro-plated finish on the B281FLZN suitable for outdoor or wet locations?
The B281FLZN is steel with an electro-plated (zinc) finish, which is a light protective coating meant for dry indoor use. For exterior, damp or corrosive locations, specify a hot-dip galvanized or stainless post base instead.
4) Does the B281FLZN post base come with anchors or channel bolts?
You are ordering the steel base fitting itself, model B281FLZN. Concrete anchors or floor fasteners, plus the channel nuts and bolts that tie the strut to the base, are separate line items and should be sized to your slab and to B22 series channel.
5) Does the B-Line B281FLZN carry any listing or certification?
Certifications are marked Not Applicable for this steel post base. It is a mechanical support fitting for B22 series strut, so specify it on structural and load grounds rather than looking for a listing mark.
6) What part number do I order for the Eaton B-Line flush-to-side rectangular post base?
The manufacturer part number is B281FLZN, from the Eaton B-Line strut fittings and accessories line. The ZN suffix corresponds to the electro-plated zinc finish.
