B-LINE B297-36SS4 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) How much weight can the B-Line B297-36SS4 strut bracket carry?
Uniform load capacity is 550 lb on the B297-36SS4 bracket. That is a uniformly distributed rating across the 36 inch length, not a point load at the free end, so spread the supported conduit, tray, or equipment along the bracket rather than hanging it all at the tip. For heavier runs, add brackets and shorten the spacing between them.
2) Is the B297-36SS4 bracket suitable for outdoor or washdown areas?
It is type 304 stainless steel, which is the grade specified for wet, humid, and outdoor strut installations, as well as food and pharma washdown areas. For chloride exposure such as coastal or pool chemical environments, 316 is the grade normally called out instead of 304.
3) What size anchors or bolts fit the mounting holes on this 36 inch strut bracket?
Mounting holes on the B297-36SS4 are 9/16 inch diameter, which takes 1/2 inch hardware with clearance. Anchors, bolts, and washers are not part of the bracket, so specify them for the base material you are fastening to (concrete anchors, through-bolts for steel, or lag screws into timber).
4) How far out from the wall does the B-Line B297-36SS4 bracket reach, and how much space does it need?
The bracket runs 36 inches in length, stands 6.25 inches high at the mounting face, and is 1.62 inches wide. Use the 36 inches as your usable cantilever when laying out conduit runs or tray supports, and allow for the 6.25 inch mounting face height when locating anchor points on the wall or column.
5) Do I need strut channel to use the B297-36SS4, or does it mount straight to the wall?
The B297-36SS4 is a strut fitting and accessory bracket, so it is built to work within an Eaton B-Line strut system. It mounts through its 9/16 inch holes, either to structure or to channel, and the channel, nuts, and fasteners are separate items. Order the strut, channel nuts, and anchors alongside it if you are building the run from scratch.
6) What is the exact part number and weight for the 36 inch 304 stainless B-Line bracket?
Order it as B-Line B297-36SS4. Each bracket weighs 12.4 lb, which matters when you are estimating the dead load a wall or ceiling has to take across a long run of brackets, and when a single installer is placing them overhead.
