B2017PAHDG is a steel strut pipe clamp from the Eaton B-Line series, used to secure pipe or conduit to strut channel. It ships with a pre-assembled combination recess hex head screw, so the fastener comes with the clamp rather than being ordered separately.

The B2017PAHDG is hot dip galvanized (HDG) steel. That is the finish contractors specify for rooftop runs, parking structures, tunnels and other damp or exposed locations where plain or electro-zinc plated hardware would rust out. For dry interior work you can use a plain or pre-galvanized version of the same clamp instead.

The clamp measures 6.703 inches in length, 1.25 inches wide and .0966 inches in material height, and weighs .66 lb. Strut pipe clamps are sized to one nominal pipe or conduit diameter, so match the clamp to the outside diameter of the run you are supporting rather than to the strut. The 1.25 inch width is what sits across the channel face, which works with standard 1-5/8 inch strut.

The screw is already on it. B2017PAHDG comes with a pre-assembled combination recess hex head screw, which means an electrician can drive it with either a hex driver or a screwdriver bit without hunting for loose hardware on a lift. You still supply the strut channel itself and, depending on your mounting method, a channel nut.

You can, but the assembly is only as corrosion resistant as its weakest piece. The B2017PAHDG clamp is HDG steel; if it is bolted to plain or painted channel outdoors, the channel will corrode first and the joint will be the failure point. On exterior and wet-location work, spec HDG channel and HDG channel nuts to match the clamp.
