NEMA 4 is the rating on the 48368-43PT, so it's built to keep out windblown dust, rain, splashing water and hose-directed water. A seamless poured in-place gasket around the hinged door is what makes that seal, and the box is UL 50 listed. It's fine for outdoor walls, wash-down bays and food or beverage plant floors. If you need corrosion resistance for chemical or coastal exposure, a painted carbon steel box is not the right choice; stainless is.

That 8 inch depth is the number to check first: it has to clear your panel, breakers, wireway and any door-mounted devices, plus the bend radius on incoming conduit. It's a single door medium style enclosure, so you get one full 48 x 36 opening to work through.

A 3-point handle pulls the door tight at the top, bottom and latch side at once. On a door this tall, 48 inches, that even clamping pressure is what keeps the poured gasket compressed the full length of the seal and holds the NEMA 4 rating. Single-clamp doors tend to gap at the corners once they've been opened a few hundred times.

Physically yes, it's 14 gauge carbon steel and takes a hole saw or punch. But any penetration in the top of a NEMA 4 box breaks the seal unless you use rated watertight hub fittings and reseal the paint edge. Standard practice is to enter the bottom or the sides with liquidtight hubs and leave the top solid.
