B-LINE 2236-12LW – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Is this wireway rated for a washdown or oily industrial area?
It is a NEMA 12 trough with an oil-resistant gasket under the cover, so it is built for indoor areas with dust, falling dirt, and dripping non-corrosive liquids including oils and coolant. NEMA 12 is not a washdown or hosedown rating; for direct spray you need a NEMA 4 or 4X trough instead.
2) Does the 2236-12LW cover come off completely or stay attached?
The cover stays with the trough. It is hung on butt hinges and held shut by quick-release latches, so you swing it open to pull wire and it will not drop into the equipment below or get lost on the job. No tools needed to open it.
3) How do you mount a B-Line 12LW wireway to a wall or ceiling?
This 12LW trough is set up for wireway hangers, so it is supported off the structure or strut by hanger hardware rather than bolted flat to a surface. The hangers, along with connectors, end plates, and elbows, are ordered separately from the trough section.
4) Is the Eaton B-Line 2236-12LW listed for use in Canada?
It carries CSA C22.2 certification, so it is acceptable for Canadian installations as well as US work.
5) What gauge steel and what color is the B-Line 12LW wireway?
14 gauge steel, finished in ANSI 61 gray. That is the standard light gray used on most industrial control gear, so a run of this trough matches existing panels and enclosures in a plant without repainting.
