1) Can I use this 4x4 wireway outdoors or in a washdown area?
No. The 4472 G NK is a NEMA 1 enclosure, which is general purpose indoor only, protecting against incidental contact and falling dirt. It is not rated for rain, hose down, or dust tight locations. For outdoor or wet runs you need a NEMA 3R raintight wireway instead.
2) Does the 4472 G NK wireway come with knockouts for conduit entry?
No knockouts. The G NK designation means the trough sides and ends are blank, so every conduit entry gets punched or drilled on site where you want it. If you'd rather have factory holes on standard spacing, order the knockout version of the same 4x4x72 trough rather than this one.
3) How does the cover come off on this B-Line wireway, and can I get back in later?
It's a screw cover, secured with plated screws, so the cover lifts off completely once the screws are out. That gives full access along the whole 72 inch length for pulling and dressing conductors, but it is slower to reopen than a hinged cover. If the run needs frequent access for troubleshooting, a hinged cover trough is the better choice.
4) Will this wireway pass an inspection that requires a listed or certified product?
The 4472 G NK is CSA Certified, which covers it for jobs in Canada and for specs calling out CSA certification. That is the certification carried on this trough.
5) Do I need anything besides the trough to build a wireway run?
A stick of 4472 G NK is just the 72 inch straight section with its screw cover. Connecting two lengths, turning a corner, or closing an open end takes separate 4x4 fittings, connectors, elbows, tees and end plates, plus your own mounting fasteners since the trough mounts through holes. Size all fittings to the same 4 by 4 inch cross section.
6) Will this 4x4 gray trough match the wireway already installed in my panel room?
Finish is ANSI 61 gray, the standard gray used on most industrial enclosures and gear, so it blends with existing panels and trough in the same finish. Body is steel at 16 gauge with plated cover screws.
