B-LINE 4424 G NK – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What size is the B-Line 4424 G NK wireway and will conduit fittings land on it without knockouts?
It's a 4 x 4 inch cross section, 24 inches long. The G NK designation means no knockouts, so every conduit entry has to be field drilled or punched to suit your fittings. If you want factory knockouts on a run, order a knockout version instead of the NK.
2) Is this wireway rated for outdoor or wet locations?
No. The 4424 G NK is a NEMA 1 enclosure, which is indoor use only, general purpose protection against incidental contact and falling dirt. The screw cover is not gasketed. For an outdoor or washdown run you need a NEMA 3R or 4 raintight wireway, not this one.
3) How does the cover come off on this Eaton B-Line wireway?
It's a screw cover trough, not a hinged one. The cover is secured with plated screws along its length, so you back the screws out to open the run for pulling or splicing. That's slower than a hinged cover but it's the standard for fixed distribution where the cover stays closed after commissioning.
4) Is the B-Line 4424 G NK wireway third party certified for a job that requires it?
It's CSA Certified, which covers the Canadian side of a spec and is commonly accepted on institutional and industrial submittals. The item is the Eaton B-Line series 4424 G NK, a 4 x 4 x 24 inch NEMA 1 screw cover trough.
5) Do I need anything else besides the trough to finish a wireway run?
Yes. A 24 inch straight section covers the run itself, but corners, tees, end plates, connectors, and hangers are separate items, and because this is the NK version with no knockouts you'll also need to punch your own conduit entries. Plan the fittings and end closures before you count sticks.
6) What gauge steel is this wireway and what finish will it match?
16 gauge steel, painted ANSI 61 gray. That's the same gray used across most industrial panelboards, control cabinets, and gutter, so a run of these will match existing gear on a plant wall or an electrical room.
