B-LINE 6424 G NK – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Does this B-Line wireway come with knockouts already punched?
No. The 6424 G NK is the NK (no knockouts) version, so every side and end comes solid. You drill or punch your own openings exactly where the conduit lands. If you want factory knockouts on a set pattern, you need the knockout version of the trough instead, not this one.
2) Can this wireway be used outdoors or in a washdown area?
No. The 6424 G NK is a NEMA 1 enclosure, which is general purpose indoor only, intended for protection against incidental contact and falling dirt. It is not rated for rain, hose down, or dust-tight duty. For outdoor gutter runs you need a NEMA 3R rain-tight wireway instead.
3) Is a screw cover wireway a problem if I need frequent access to the conductors?
Plan for it. The cover on the 6424 G NK is secured with plated screws along its length, so opening a run means backing out screws rather than flipping a hinged lid. That is fine for a pull box or a distribution gutter you open during commissioning and rarely after. For a panel someone opens weekly, a hinged-cover trough is the easier choice.
4) Is this wireway acceptable for a job in Canada?
Yes, the 6424 G NK carries CSA certification, so it can be specified on Canadian work as well as US jobs. Confirm your AHJ's fill and support requirements for the run itself, since those are code items, not product ones.
5) What part number do I order for a 24 inch B-Line wireway section with no knockouts?
The catalogue number is 6424 G NK from Eaton's B-Line series: 6 inch height, 4 inch width, 24 inch length, screw cover, no knockouts. Order fittings, couplings, and end caps separately to complete a run.
6) Will this B-Line trough match the gray on my existing panelboards and gutter runs?
It is finished in ANSI 61 gray, the standard electrical equipment gray used across most panelboards, disconnects, and wireway, so it blends into an existing run without looking patched in. The body is steel at 16 gauge with plated cover screws.
