1) What size is the Eaton B-Line 6618 G NK wireway, and will it mate with other 6x6 trough?
It's a 6 inch by 6 inch cross section, 18 inches long. That 6x6 opening is the standard trough size, so it lines up end to end with other 6x6 wireway sections, connectors, elbows and tees of the same NEMA 1 screw cover style.
2) Is this wireway rated for outdoor or wet locations?
No. The 6618 G NK is a NEMA 1 enclosure, which is indoor general purpose only, protecting against incidental contact and falling dirt. It has no gasketing. For a wet or washdown area you need a NEMA 3R or NEMA 4 raintight trough instead.
3) Does the 6618 G NK wireway come with knockouts for conduit?
No knockouts. The NK in the model designation means the body is blank, so every conduit entry gets field drilled or punched where you want it. If you want factory knockouts on the sides and ends, order the knockout version of the same 6x6 trough instead.
4) How does the cover come off on this B-Line trough, hinged or screw cover?
It's a screw cover, held on with plated screws. You back the screws out to pull the full-length cover off, which gives you the whole side open for pulling and splicing, but it is slower to reopen than a hinged cover. On a panel you expect to get into often, a hinged-cover trough is the better choice.
5) How is the 6618 G NK wireway mounted to a wall or strut?
Through holes in the back of the trough. You fasten it directly to the wall, backboard or strut run with your own hardware; mounting fasteners and anchors are not part of the trough.
6) What gauge steel and finish is this wireway, and will it match my existing gray gear?
16 gauge steel, painted ANSI 61 gray. ANSI 61 is the standard gray used on most commercial panelboards, disconnects and control enclosures, so it blends with existing gear in an electrical room.
7) Is this B-Line wireway certified for use in Canada?
It's CSA Certified, so it's acceptable for Canadian installations as well as US work.
8) How much does an 18 inch section of this trough weigh for overhead mounting?
About 7.226 lb per 18 inch section. Light enough for one person to hang, but size your anchors for the loaded weight once the conductors are pulled in.
