B-LINE 88120-3RHS NK – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Is this B-Line 8x8 wireway rated for outdoor or wet locations?
No. The 88120-3RHS NK is a NEMA 1 enclosure, which is indoor, general purpose protection against incidental contact and falling dirt only. It is not raintight. For an outdoor or washdown run you need a NEMA 3R or 4 rated gutter instead.
2) Does this wireway come with knockouts for conduit entry?
It doesn't. The NK in 88120-3RHS NK means no knockouts, so the body ships solid and you punch or hole-saw your own openings exactly where your conduit lands. That's the usual choice for field-routed runs; order a knockout version if you want factory openings on set centers.
3) What else do I need to order to finish a wireway run with these 10 foot sections?
The 88120-3RHS NK is the straight trough only. A complete run also needs connectors or couplings between sections, end plates to close the run, and any elbows, tees, or crosses your routing calls for, all in the matching 8 x 8 size and NEMA 1 hinged style. Since it ships with no knockouts, bring your own hole saw or punch for conduit entries.
4) How does the cover open on this B-Line gutter, and is it sealed?
Hinged cover, so it swings open and stays with the trough instead of coming off in your hands on a ladder. The cover is secured to the body with a gasketed retaining screw, which keeps it closed and adds a seal at the fastener. Handy on long overhead runs where a screw-cover lid would be a two-man job.
5) Is this wireway approved for use in Canada?
The 88120-3RHS NK carries CSA C22.2 certification, so it's accepted for Canadian installations as well as US work.
6) What gauge steel and finish is the B-Line 88120 wireway?
14 gauge galvaneal steel finished in ANSI 61 gray. That's the standard gray you see on switchgear and panelboards, so a run of this gutter matches existing electrical equipment in a plant or mechanical room rather than standing out.
