No. The 8860 HSNK is a NEMA 1 enclosure, which is general purpose indoor only. It keeps hands and falling dirt out of the conductors but offers no protection against rain, dripping water, or hosedown. For outdoor runs or damp locations you need a NEMA 3R gasketed wireway instead.

No knockouts. The 8860 HSNK ships with blank sides, so every conduit entry gets punched or hole sawed in the field wherever your run requires it. Plan on a knockout punch set on site, and deburr before pulling conductors.

Hinged. The cover swings open along the length of the trough so you can lay in conductors without taking the cover off and setting it down, which matters on a ladder or over a ceiling grid. It is secured to the body with plated screws.

The 8860 HSNK carries CSA C22.2 certification, so it is recognized for Canadian installations as well as US work. That matters on cross border projects and for inspectors who want the CSA mark on the enclosure.

Go to the 8 by 8 when conductor fill or the number of pulls in one trough outgrows the smaller sizes. Wireway fill is limited to 20 percent of the cross sectional area, so the 8 by 8 gives you 64 square inches of gross area to work against, roughly four times a 4 by 4. It also gives you room to make turns and splices inside the trough, which is where the smaller sizes get tight.

14 gauge steel with an ANSI 61 gray finish. That is the standard gray used across most industrial control panels and gear, so a run of it will match existing switchgear and enclosures in a plant or mechanical room rather than standing out.
