B-LINE 88-12LE9A – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the B-Line 88-12LE9A elbow fit an 8 x 8 wireway run?
Yes. The Eaton B-Line 88-12LE9A is sized for 8 inch by 8 inch wireway, with a product height of 8 inches and width of 8 inches. Leg depth runs 10.75 inches, so allow that much clearance off the corner when you lay out the run.
2) Is this a top opening or side opening 90 degree wireway elbow?
Top opening. The 88-12LE9A is a 90 degree elbow with the cover on top, so you drop conductors in from above rather than pulling them through. If your run turns in a plane where the removable cover would end up on the side, you need a different elbow orientation.
3) Is the 88-12LE9A elbow rated for a dusty or drip environment?
It is a NEMA 12 fitting, which covers indoor use against falling dirt, dust and dripping non-corrosive liquids. It is UL Listed. For washdown or outdoor wet locations you want a NEMA 3R or 4 rated wireway system instead.
4) Do I need to order a sealing plate separately for this NEMA 12 elbow?
No. One sealing plate kit ships with the 88-12LE9A. That kit is what maintains the NEMA 12 seal at the joint, so the fitting arrives ready to join to the adjoining wireway sections.
5) Can I lay wires in without pulling them, or do I have to fish the corner?
It is a lay-in fitting. Take the cover off, drop the conductors into the elbow, and close it up. That is the main reason to use a wireway elbow at a corner instead of trying to pull cable around a bend.
6) What is the exact part number to order for the B-Line 8 x 8 NEMA 12 top opening 90 degree wireway elbow?
Order Eaton B-Line 88-12LE9A. That designation covers the 8 x 8 lay-in 90 degree elbow, top opening, NEMA 12, steel, ANSI 61 gray, with the sealing plate kit included.
7) How heavy is this elbow, and can one person hang it?
The fitting weighs 12.587 lb, light enough for one person to hold in place but heavy enough that you want the adjoining wireway supported before you bolt the corner in.
