1) Will the B-Line 1212 HSLIN elbow fit 12 x 12 wireway?
Yes. The 1212 HSLIN is sized for 12 inch by 12 inch lay-in wireway, with a 12 inch height and 12 inch length/depth on the body. It turns the run 90 degrees with the opening on the inside of the turn.
2) What does "inside opening" mean on a 90 degree wireway elbow, and how do I know if I need it instead of an outside-opening elbow?
On the 1212 HSLIN the removable cover and lay-in opening are on the inside radius of the 90 degree turn, so you pull and lay conductors in from the short side of the corner. If your wireway run turns such that the accessible face of the corner is on the long (outer) side of the turn, you need an outside-opening elbow instead. Sight the run before ordering: the opening has to face the side you can physically reach to lay wire in.
3) How heavy is a 12 x 12 wireway elbow, and do I need to support it separately?
The 1212 HSLIN weighs 16.721 lb empty, and its overall width is 16.215 in. At that weight, plus conductors, plan on hangers or strut support at the corner rather than letting the adjoining wireway sections carry the elbow. One person can set it, but it is an awkward two-hand lift overhead.
4) Does this elbow come with the connectors and hardware to join it to the wireway sections?
The 1212 HSLIN is sold as the 90 degree elbow fitting itself. Joining hardware and connectors for lay-in wireway are ordered separately, so check what your existing run uses and add those to the order so the corner can be closed out in one trip.
