B-LINE 44-12LCF – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Will the B-Line 44-12LCF cutoff fitting fit 4x4 wireway?
Yes. The 44-12LCF is built for 4 inch by 4 inch wireway, with a 4 inch height and 4 inch width to match the trough cross section, and a 12 inch length. It will not mate with 6x6 or 8x8 trough, so size the fitting to the wireway body you already have on the run.
2) Is this wireway fitting rated for a washdown or oil-splash area?
It is a NEMA 12 fitting, so it is intended for indoor use against dust, falling dirt, and dripping non-corrosive liquids. NEMA 12 is not a hosedown or outdoor rating, so for wet or rain-exposed locations you want NEMA 3R or 4 wireway components instead. The 44-12LCF is also UL Listed.
3) What is a wireway cutoff fitting actually used for?
A cutoff fitting is the piece you use to end or interrupt a wireway run, closing off the trough where it stops rather than leaving a cut open end. On the 44-12LCF it is a lay-in design, so conductors drop in from the removable cover side instead of being pulled through, which is how the rest of a lay-in wireway system is installed.
4) Will this match the gray wireway already installed in my panel room?
The finish is ANSI 61 gray paint over steel, which is the standard gray used across Eaton B-Line wireway and most industrial enclosures, so it lines up with existing ANSI 61 gray trough and gutter on the same run.
5) What part number do I give my distributor for this B-Line cutoff fitting?
Order it as Eaton B-Line 44-12LCF. The 44 prefix reflects the 4 inch by 4 inch trough size and the 12 is the 12 inch length, in ANSI 61 gray painted steel.
6) Can I use a NEMA 12 wireway fitting on a NEMA 1 wireway run?
Mixing the two defeats the purpose. NEMA 12 wireway uses gasketed, dust-tight joints while NEMA 1 is general purpose and not dust-tight, so the run only performs to the weakest component in it. If the existing trough is NEMA 1, the 44-12LCF will still close off the run mechanically, but do not call the assembly NEMA 12 unless every fitting and body on it is NEMA 12.
7) How heavy is the 44-12LCF, and does one person need help hanging it?
It weighs 8.168 lb. At a 12 inch length in 4x4, that is a one-hand piece for a single installer on a ladder, though the steel body still wants a hanger or strap supporting the trough on each side of the fitting.
