B-LINE 22 T – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Will the B-Line 22 T wireway tee fit 2.5 inch square lay-in wireway?
Yes. The Eaton B-Line 22 T tee is sized for 2-1/2 by 2-1/2 inch wireway, matching the standard 2.5 in x 2.5 in cross section. Overall length/depth of the fitting is 8.5 inches, so allow that much run length where the tee lands. It will not mate with 4x4 or 6x6 wireway, which take fittings of the matching size.
2) Is this B-Line tee rated for outdoor or wet locations?
No. The 22 T tee is a NEMA 1 enclosure type, which is indoor, general purpose protection against incidental contact and falling dirt only. For washdown, damp, or exterior runs you need a NEMA 3R or 4 rated wireway system instead.
3) Is the B-Line 22 T wireway tee UL Listed?
It is UL Listed, which is what most inspectors and specs want to see on a wireway system carrying feeders or control wiring in a commercial or institutional building.
4) What does lay-in construction mean on this wireway tee, and does it help on a retrofit?
Lay-in means the cover comes off so conductors drop straight into the trough rather than being pulled through. On a branch or pull point that saves a lot of time, and it lets you add or re-route circuits later without pulling the whole run. That is the main reason installers use a lay-in tee at a branch instead of making the turn with conduit bodies.
5) Do I use a wireway tee or just a conduit body to branch a 2.5 inch wireway run?
Use the tee when you are branching wireway to wireway. The 22 T keeps the 2-1/2 inch square cross section continuous through the branch and stays lay-in, so conductors are not forced through a small conduit body opening and you keep access for future changes. A conduit body is for transitioning off the wireway into pipe, not for carrying the trough around a corner.
6) What is this tee made of and what is the finish?
Steel, with an ANSI 61 gray painted finish. ANSI 61 gray is the standard gray used on most electrical gear, so the tee matches typical panelboards, enclosures and the rest of a gray wireway run in a plant or mechanical room.
