B-LINE 1212120 G NK – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Is the Eaton B-Line 1212120 G NK wireway rated for outdoor or wet locations?
No. The 1212120 G NK trough is a NEMA 1 enclosure, which is indoor, general purpose only, intended to keep out falling dirt and incidental contact. For outdoors, washdown areas, or anywhere water spray or rain can reach the trough, you need a NEMA 3R or 4 rated wireway instead. It is CSA Certified.
2) Does this 12 x 12 wiring trough come with knockouts for conduit, or do I have to punch my own?
No knockouts. The 1212120 G NK is supplied blank, so every conduit entry gets field punched or hole sawed where your run actually lands. Plan on a hole punch set or step bit for 14 gauge steel. If you would rather have factory openings on the standard pattern, order the knockout version of the same trough size instead.
3) What is the exact part number I should order for this Eaton B-Line trough?
Order Eaton B-Line part number 1212120 G NK. The number reads out as the dimensions, 12 inch height, 12 inch width, 120 inch length, with NK meaning no knockouts. Getting the NK suffix right matters, since the knockout version of the same size is a different part.
4) How does the cover come off on the B-Line 1212120 G NK trough, and is it removable for pulling wire?
It is a screw cover, secured with plated screws along the length, so the cover lifts completely off once the screws are out. That gives you a fully open channel to lay wire into rather than fishing it, which is the main reason a trough is used instead of conduit for a heavily loaded run. Budget time for the screws on a 120 inch section.
5) What gauge steel and finish is this wiring trough, and will it match my existing gray panels?
Body is 14 gauge steel finished in ANSI 61 gray, the standard light gray used on most commercial panelboards, disconnects, and control enclosures. If your existing gear is ANSI 61, the trough will match. Closure screws are plated.
6) Do I need a hinged cover instead of a screw cover wireway for a panel I service often?
For a trough you open regularly, a hinged cover version is the better choice, since the 1212120 G NK uses a screw-secured cover that must be unfastened and lifted off each time. Screw cover is the usual pick for a fixed feeder or branch gutter that gets opened at install and rarely after, and it resists casual opening in accessible areas.
