It's a 4 x 4 inch cross section, 12 inches long. That 4 x 4 body is the standard trough size most panel and control work is laid out around, and the 12 inch length makes it a short jumper section between enclosures rather than a run piece.

No. The 4412 HSNK is a NEMA 1 enclosure, which is indoor general purpose only. It keeps fingers and falling dirt out of the wiring, but it is not sealed against water, oil, or dust. For a wet location, damp exterior wall, or any washdown area you need a NEMA 3R or 4 rated trough instead.

No knockouts. The 4412 HSNK body is blank, so every conduit entry gets field punched or hole sawed where you actually need it. Plan on a punch set or step bit for your connector sizes. If you'd rather not drill, order a knockout version of the trough instead.

The 4412 HSNK has a hinged cover, so it swings open and stays attached when you're pulling or re-pulling conductors, which is what you want on a trough you'll be back inside. Plated screws secure the cover closed to the body. A screw cover version comes off completely, which is fine for a run you wire once and forget, but the loose cover and loose screws are a nuisance during service.

It carries CSA C22.2 certification, so it's acceptable for Canadian installations under the CSA enclosure standard. Facility and institutional buyers standardizing across both US and Canadian sites can spec the same 4412 HSNK part number at each.

That's the usual use for it. At 12 inches long with a 4 x 4 inch cross section and no factory knockouts, you cut entries to line up with the existing openings on the two cabinets and bolt it through the mounting holes. Connectors, couplings, and end plates are separate items, so add whatever the transition needs.
