The 4436 GRT trough is a NEMA 4X enclosure, so it handles hosedown, wet locations, and corrosive washdown areas as well as indoor use. It is also CSA Certified. The rating depends on the cover being installed properly: the cover seats against a flange and is secured with plated screws, so leaving screws out or skipping one compromises the 4X seal.

It is a 4 x 4 inch cross section, 36 inches long. That 4 x 4 size is the common lay-in trough size for feeder taps and gutter extensions off a panel; if you are pulling larger conductor counts and need more fill area, step up to a 6 x 6 or 8 x 8 trough instead.

There are 11 knockouts in the bottom of the trough, so you can land conduit without punching in many layouts. Anything outside those locations, including side or end penetrations, you punch yourself. Bear in mind that any opening you make in a NEMA 4X enclosure needs a raintight fitting and a sealing washer to keep the 4X rating intact.

Screw cover, not hinged. The cover is removed completely by backing out the plated screws that hold it against the enclosure flange. That is what the NEMA 4X rating is based on. If you expect to open the trough often for future pulls, a hinged-cover trough is easier to live with; for a one-time pull and permanent closure, the screw cover is the standard choice.

The trough is finished in ANSI 61 gray, which is the standard gray used across most commercial panelboards, disconnects, and enclosures, so it lines up visually with existing gear in a typical electrical room or mechanical space. Screws are plated.
