1) Can the B-Line 4460 GRT wiring trough be used outdoors?
The Eaton B-Line 4460 GRT trough is a NEMA 3R enclosure, so it is built for outdoor use against rain and sleet. It is steel with an ANSI 61 gray finish and CSA Certified. Keep in mind 3R is not a washdown or dust-tight rating, so for hose-down or heavy dust locations you want a 4 or 12 rated trough instead.
2) How do you mount the 4460 GRT trough to a wall or strut?
Mounting is through embossed thru holes in the back of the body, so it bolts flat to a wall, backboard, or strut run without drilling the enclosure and breaking the finish. Fasteners and any strut or standoffs are supplied by the installer.
3) Does this trough have knockouts, or do I have to punch my own?
There are 19 bottom knockouts already provided for conduit entry, so a typical drop to panels or devices below needs no field punching. Sides and ends would have to be punched in the field if you need entries there.
4) How does the cover come off on this B-Line wiring trough?
It is a screw cover, not a hinged or latched lid. The cover seats on a flange and is held by plated screws all around, so you back the screws out to open it for pulling or splicing. That is slower to open than a hinged gutter but it is what keeps the 3R seal at the flange.
5) What gauge steel is the B-Line 4460 GRT made from?
16 gauge steel, painted ANSI 61 gray. That is the usual body weight for a commercial screw-cover gutter and stiff enough to span between mounting points on a wall run without oil-canning under a full fill of conductors.
6) Will the 4460 GRT match the gray finish on my existing panelboards and gutter runs?
It is finished in ANSI 61 gray, the standard gray used across most commercial electrical enclosures and switchgear, so it lines up visually with existing panel and gutter work in that color.
