The 8860 GRT trough carries a NEMA 3R rating, so it is built for outdoor use where falling rain, sleet and snow are the exposure. 3R is not a washdown or hosedown enclosure and it is not dust-tight, so if the location sees direct spray, heavy dust or oil, you want a 4 or 12 rated trough instead. The steel body is finished in ANSI 61 gray and it is CSA Certified.

It is an 8 inch by 8 inch cross section, 60 inches long. That square 8 x 8 opening is the usable interior channel for pulling and splicing, and the 60 inch run lets you tie two panels or a row of disconnects together without a coupling. If you need a longer run, troughs of this type are joined end to end with connectors rather than ordering one long piece.

There are 19 knockouts in the bottom of the trough, so bottom-entry conduit runs into panels or gutters below can be made without punching steel on site. Side and end penetrations you make yourself with a punch. The mounting holes are embossed thru holes in the body, so it bolts to a wall or strut without drilling the enclosure.

It is finished ANSI 61 gray, the standard gray used on most commercial panelboards, disconnects and enclosures, so it will read as a match to existing switchgear on the same wall. Steel body, painted, with plated screws on the cover.
