1) Can the B-Line 6612 GRT wiring trough be used outdoors?
The 6612 GRT is a NEMA 3R rated trough, so it is built for outdoor rain and sleet exposure on wall-mounted runs, not for washdown or dust-tight locations. It is steel with an ANSI 61 gray finish and is CSA Certified. If you need a dust-tight or oil-tight run, step up to a 12-rated trough instead.
2) What are the actual cross-section dimensions of the 6612 GRT trough, and will 6 x 6 give me enough room for my conductors?
It is a 6 inch by 6 inch cross section in a 12 inch length, so you have a full 36 square inches of interior gutter area before derating. That is the common size for feeder taps and splices behind a panel where a 4 x 4 trough would run out of bending space. Wire fill and the number of conductors you can run through it are governed by your local code, not by the box.
3) How do I mount this wiring trough to a wall, and do I need to drill it?
No drilling for the mounting itself. The 6612 GRT has embossed thru holes in the back for fasteners, so you hang it straight off the wall or strut with your own screws or bolts, which are not supplied. 5) Can I gang two of these troughs together to make a longer run?
Troughs like the 6612 GRT are made to be coupled end to end, but the 12 inch length ships as a single 6 x 6 x 12 body with three bottom knockouts and no connector hardware included. For a continuous run you punch the ends to match and use your own connectors, or order a single longer trough in the same 6 x 6 cross section to avoid the joints altogether.
6) Will the gray finish on this trough match the panels and enclosures already on my wall?
