B-LINE 6624 GRTGV NK – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Can the B-Line 6624 GRTGV NK wiring trough be used outdoors?
It is built as a NEMA 3R enclosure in galvanized steel, so it is rated for outdoor use against rain and falling debris. Gray finish, 16 gauge body, and the screw cover seats against a flange to shed water. For washdown or dust-tight indoor work you would need a 4 or 12 rated trough instead.
2) What are the inside dimensions of the 6624 GRTGV wiring trough, and how much wire can it hold?
The trough is a 6 x 6 cross section, 24 inches long. That is the standard 6-inch square gutter size electricians size conductors to, and it gives plenty of room for splices and pull space on a 24 inch run between panels or disconnects.
3) Does the B-Line 6624 GRTGV NK trough come with knockouts?
No. The NK in the model number means no knockouts, so every conduit entry gets field drilled or punched where you need it. If you would rather have factory openings on the sides and ends, order the knockout version of the same trough rather than this one.
4) How does the cover come off on this 6 x 6 x 24 gutter?
It is a screw cover, not a hinged one. Plated screws hold the cover down against a flange, so you back the screws out to open it up for pulling or splicing. Plan on access room in front of the trough for a driver.
5) Is this Eaton B-Line trough acceptable for a Canadian job?
It is built to CSA C22.2, so it carries the Canadian certification an inspector looks for on a wiring trough.
6) Is 16 gauge heavy enough for a commercial wiring gutter?
Yes for typical commercial and industrial gutter work. The 6624 GRTGV NK is 16 gauge galvanized steel, which is the usual body weight for a 6-inch screw-cover trough and holds its shape when it is supported on the embossed thru holes and loaded with conductors.
