B-LINE 6672 GRTGV NK – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Can the B-Line 6672 GRTGV NK wiring trough be used outdoors?
The 6672 GRTGV NK is a NEMA 3R trough in galvanized steel, so it is built for outdoor, rain-exposed runs like rooftop or exterior wall feeder pulls. The cover is held down by a flange and plated screws, which is what keeps water out at the seam. For washdown or hosedown areas you want a 4 or 4X enclosure instead, not a 3R.
2) Does the 6672 GRTGV NK trough come with knockouts already punched?
No. The NK in the part number means no knockouts, so both the body and the ends come blank. You drill or punch your own openings wherever the conduit lands, which is the reason most electricians choose it over a pre-punched trough on a custom run. Plan on a step bit or a knockout punch set on site.
3) How does the cover come off the B-Line 6672 trough for pulling wire?
It is a screw cover, secured with plated screws against a flange around the opening. The full cover lifts off so you get the whole 72 inch length open for laying conductors in rather than fishing them. Budget a few minutes per section to back the screws out, and keep them, since the screw and flange combination is what maintains the 3R seal.
4) Is the B-Line 6672 GRTGV NK trough heavy enough gauge for a commercial install?
The body is 16 gauge galvanized steel with a gray finish, which is the standard weight for commercial wireway of this size and holds its shape when you are pulling large conductors against the corners. Galvanized steel with a 3R rating is also what lets it live outdoors without a separate coating.
5) Is this B-Line wiring trough approved for Canadian jobs?
It carries CSA C22.2 certification, so it can be specified on Canadian work as well as US installs. That matters on multi-site or cross-border institutional specs where one part number has to satisfy both inspection regimes.
