B-LINE 6672 GRT NK – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Can the B-Line 6672 GRT NK wiring trough be used outdoors?
The 6672 GRT NK is a NEMA 3R trough, so it is rated for outdoor use against falling rain and sleet. That makes it suitable for exterior wall runs, rooftop equipment, and service entrance gutters. It is not a washdown or hosedown enclosure, so keep it out of direct spray and submersion locations.
2) Does the 6672 wiring trough come with knockouts, or do I have to punch my own holes?
No knockouts. The NK in 6672 GRT NK means the 6 x 6 x 72 inch body ships blank, so every conduit entry gets punched where your run needs it. The steel is 16 gauge, which a standard knockout punch handles fine but is heavier than a typical panel wall. If you would rather have factory openings, order a knockout version of the trough instead.
3) How does the cover come off on the B-Line 6672 GRT NK trough?
It is a screw cover, not a hinged lid. The cover seats against a flange and is held by plated screws along the length, so you back the screws out to open the run and re-torque them on closing. Plan for a worker to support the 72 inch cover while removing the last screws.
4) Will a 6 inch square trough match up to the gutter I already have on the job?
The 6672 GRT NK measures 6 inches high by 6 inches wide by 72 inches long, which is the standard 6 x 6 gutter size, so it lines up end to end with other 6 x 6 troughs and with 6 inch connectors. Finish is ANSI 61 gray, the usual gray on B-Line troughs and most switchgear, so it blends with existing runs.
5) Is the B-Line 6672 GRT NK trough third party certified for an inspected commercial job?
It is CSA Certified. That plus the NEMA 3R construction is what an inspector typically looks for on an exterior or damp location gutter run.
