1) Can I use a 600 V KTS-R-3 fuse on a 240 V or 480 V circuit?
Yes. The KTS-R-3 carries a 600 V rating, and a fuse may be applied at or below its voltage rating, so it works on 208, 240 and 480 V systems as well. What you cannot do is go the other way and put a 250 V fuse into a 600 V circuit. Its interrupting rating is 200 kAIC at 600 Vac.
2) Is the KTS-R-3 fast-acting or time-delay, and can I use it ahead of a motor?
Fast-acting. The LIMITRON KTS-R is a single-element fast-acting design, so it has no intentional time delay and will open on motor inrush if sized at nameplate. Use it for non-inductive loads, panelboards, feeders and circuits where you want the quickest clearing. For a motor branch circuit you want a dual-element time-delay Class RK fuse such as the Bussmann FRS-R instead.
3) Can a KTS-R-3 replace an existing KTS-R or RK1 fuse of the same rating in my panelboard?
Yes, as a direct swap for any 3 A, 600 V Class RK1 ferrule fuse. Match three things when replacing: 3 A amperage, 600 V, and the RK1 class. If the old fuse was a dual-element time-delay RK5, the KTS-R-3 will physically fit the same clips but clears faster, so do not substitute it on a motor or transformer circuit.
4) Is 200,000 AIC enough for my service with a high available fault current?
The KTS-R-3 interrupts 200 kA at 600 Vac, which covers essentially any commercial or industrial service point you will encounter, and as a current-limiting Class RK1 fuse it also reduces let-through energy so downstream gear can be series rated. Confirm the available fault current from your utility study is at or below 200 kA.
5) Does the KTS-R-3 have a blown fuse indicator?
No. It is non-indicating, so there is no window or pop-out pin to tell you it has opened. You will need a meter or continuity check to identify the blown leg, which is worth knowing if you are standardizing a panel where techs rely on visual indication.
