Stack it on an existing 4-11/16 square box and the assembly sits 1-1/2 inches proud of the original box face, which is what you want when a wall has been furred out, tiled, or re-drywalled and the old box now sits behind the finished surface. Check that your device screws and plaster ring still reach after the extension, and that the ring's 1-1/2 inch depth actually matches how far the box is set back, an over-deep extension leaves the device standing out of the wall.
2) Is this Crouse-Hinds extension ring rated for a hazardous or classified location?
No. The TP550 is rated for ordinary, non-hazardous locations only. If you are working a Class I or Class II classified area, a drawn steel extension ring like this is not the part, you need a listed explosionproof enclosure and fittings for the specific class and division. For normal commercial, industrial, and residential dry work it is fine.
3) What size conduit knockouts does the TP550 extension ring have?
Eight 1/2 inch and four 3/4 inch knockouts, all on the sides.
