1) What does the LR shape on a Crouse-Hinds Condulet mean, and when do I use it instead of an LB or LL?
LR is the left-hand-to-right configuration Condulet: the conduit runs through and the opening faces the right side of the run, giving a 90 degree directional change with a removable cover opening for pulling wire. Use an LR when the access opening needs to sit to the right as you face the run. An LB puts the opening on the back and is what you want where conduit turns out of a wall; an LL puts it on the left. The body is the same otherwise, so the pick is purely which way the cover has to face on your install.
2) What conduit trade sizes does the Crouse-Hinds Form 7 LR Condulet come in?
Hub sizes run 1/2 inch through 4 inch: 1/2 (LR17), 3/4 (LR27), 1 (LR37), 1-1/4 (LR47), 1-1/2 (LR57), 2 (LR67), 2-1/2 (LR777), 3 (LR87) and 4 inch (LR107). Not every size is offered in every material, so the size you need drives which part number you order.
3) Does the Crouse-Hinds LR Condulet come with a cover and gasket, or is it the body only?

4) Can I use a Form 7 LR Condulet in a hazardous or classified area?
No. The Form 7 LR Condulet is rated for ordinary, non-hazardous locations only. For a Class I or Class II classified area you need an explosionproof conduit body designed for that division, not this one.
5) Will a NEMA 12 conduit body hold up in a wet or outdoor location?
NEMA 12 covers dust, falling dirt and dripping non-corrosive liquids, which is an indoor enclosure rating. It is fine for a plant floor, a mechanical room or a warehouse ceiling run. It is not a wet-location or washdown rating, so for outdoor exposure or hosedown you should be specifying a fitting rated for those conditions instead.
6) Can a PVC LB fitting be used instead of a Form 7 LR Condulet for a 90-degree conduit turn?
They are not the same part. The Crouse-Hinds Form 7 LR Condulet is a metal conduit body in Feraloy iron alloy or copper-free aluminum, with the LR shape that takes the conduit in the back and out the side for a 90-degree change of direction. The Kraloy 078146 is an LB25 series 2-1/2 inch PVC LB access fitting supplied with a cover and gasket, so it is a PVC-system fitting in the LB configuration, where the run enters the back and exits the bottom. If the drawing calls for an LR turn on rigid metal conduit, the LR Condulet is the match; the Kraloy LB suits a PVC raceway making an LB-style turn. Confirm the shape letter before substituting, because LR and LB route the conductors differently.
7) What is the difference between the Feraloy and the SA copper-free aluminum LR Condulet?
Same LR body, different metal. The plain part numbers (LR27, LR57) are Feraloy iron alloy. The SA suffix (LR27 SA, LR57 SA) is copper-free aluminum, which is lighter and is the usual pick where copper content is a concern or where weight on a long overhead run matters. Feraloy is the heavier iron alloy choice. Aluminum is offered from 1/2 inch through 3 inch; 2-1/2 inch and 4 inch are Feraloy only.
8) Does this Crouse-Hinds Condulet meet NEC requirements for an inspected commercial job?
The Form 7 LR Condulet is built to NEC and CEC standards, which is what an inspector on a US or Canadian commercial or institutional job is checking the fitting against. It is used in commercial buildings, industrial plants, schools and retail facilities for directional conduit changes and pull access.
9) Can I use a PVC LB fitting instead of a metal Crouse-Hinds LR Condulet?
Only if the run and the opening direction both suit it. A PVC access fitting such as the Kraloy 078146 LB25 is a 2-1/2 inch LB and ships with its cover and gasket, so it is a one-piece answer for nonmetallic PVC conduit. Two differences matter: it is an LB, so the opening faces the back rather than the right, and it is PVC rather than Feraloy iron or copper-free aluminum. If your run is threaded rigid or IMC and needs the access on the right, the LR Condulet is the fitting.
10) What do I need to order to complete a 2 inch LR Condulet install?
At 2 inch, LR67 gets you the Feraloy body alone, LR67 SA the copper-free aluminum body alone, and LR67 CG the SnapPack with cover and gasket included. If you take a body-only number you still need the matching cover and gasket, plus your conduit and any bushings the run calls for. Ordering the CG saves that second line item.
