1) What trade sizes does the Crouse-Hinds RAC right-angle conduit clamp come in?
The RAC right-angle clamp is made for trade sizes 1/2, 3/4, 1, 1-1/4, 1-1/2, 2, 2-1/2 and 3 inch, ordered by part number: RAC50HD, RAC75HD, RAC100HD, RAC125HD, RAC150HD, RAC200HD, RAC250HD and RAC300HD. Size by the conduit trade size, not by the measured outside diameter of the pipe.
2) Can I use the RAC clamp on EMT, or is it only for rigid and IMC conduit?
Rigid and IMC only. The RAC clamp is built to the outside diameter of threaded rigid metal conduit and intermediate metallic conduit, and EMT of the same trade size is a smaller OD, so it will sit loose in the clamp. For EMT runs, order an EMT-specific strap or clamp in the matching trade size.
3) Can I use these clamps in a Class I Division 2 or other classified area?
No. The RAC clamp is rated for ordinary, non-hazardous locations. Hazardous-location conduit runs need support and fittings selected for that classification, so specify hazardous-rated hardware for those areas and keep the RAC clamps on the ordinary-location portions of the job.
4) Will a hot-dip galvanized conduit clamp hold up outdoors or in a wash-down area?
Hot-dip galvanized iron is the finish you want for damp, wet and outdoor conduit support, and that is what the RAC clamp uses. The zinc coating is applied by dipping, so it covers the cut and formed edges rather than just the flat faces, which is where a plated clamp starts to rust first.
