1) Should I use a C conduit body or an LB, LL or T for my run?
A C body is the straight-through, in-line access fitting: both hubs are on the same axis, so it gives you a pull point or a splice chamber in the middle of a straight run without changing direction. If the conduit has to turn 90 degrees at a wall or come out of a slab, that is an L-shape body, not a C. If you need to branch three ways, that is a T. Pick the C only when the run continues straight and you want access to the conductors at that point.
2) Can I use a Crouse-Hinds Series 5 Condulet in a Class I hazardous area?
No. The Series 5 C Condulet is rated for ordinary, non-hazardous locations only. For a classified area (Class I Division 1 or 2, Class II, spray booths, fuel handling) you need an explosionproof body from a hazardous-location line, not a Series 5. Using an ordinary-location body in a classified space fails inspection regardless of how well it is installed.
3) Will a Series 5 Condulet body work with EMT conduit?
Not directly. The Series 5 C body is threaded for rigid and IMC conduit, which use NPT-style tapered conduit threads. EMT is unthreaded and terminates with set-screw or compression connectors, so it cannot thread into these hubs. To land EMT on one of these bodies you would need a threaded EMT connector or an adapter that converts to male conduit thread at each hub, or use a fitting made for EMT instead.
4) Does the Crouse-Hinds C105 come with a cover and gasket, or do I order those separately?
Each configuration in the Series 5 C range, C15 through C105, is supplied as a standard body only. The cover and the gasket are separate line items, sized to the body, so a complete installation needs three parts ordered together: the body, a cover to suit the trade size, and a gasket if the location calls for one. Contractors ordering a dozen bodies for a job routinely forget the covers and end up with open bodies on site.
5) Do Crouse-Hinds Series 5 Condulets meet code for a commercial job in the US and Canada?
The Series 5 C bodies are built to NEC and CEC standards, so they are specifiable on both sides of the border for ordinary-location work in commercial buildings, institutional facilities and multi-family properties. That covers the fitting itself; support spacing, fill and bonding at the body remain the installer's responsibility under the same codes.
