1) Will the Eaton FDB2050 breaker work on a 480V three-phase panel?
The FDB2050 is rated 600 Vac and 250 Vdc, so 480V is within its voltage rating. Watch the interrupting capacity though: it's 18 kAIC at 240 Vac but only 14 kAIC at 480 Vac. If your available fault current at the panel exceeds 14 kA, this two-pole F-frame breaker is not the right choice and you need a higher-AIC frame.
2) Is the FDB2050 a complete breaker or just the frame, and do I need to order a trip unit separately?
It ships as a complete molded case breaker with a fixed thermal, fixed magnetic trip already built in. Nothing to add: no interchangeable trip unit, no rating plug. The trade-off is that the 50A rating and the trip settings can't be adjusted later, so if you need field-adjustable magnetic pickup you want a different Series C breaker.
3) What terminals come on the Eaton FDB2050 and can I land line conductors on it?
Load side terminals are what's provided on this FDB breaker. In a panel or switchboard the line side is meant to connect through the bus or plug-on connection, so if your application needs lugs on both ends you'll have to add the line-side terminal kit for the F-frame rather than assume it's in the box.
4) How much space does the FDB2050 need in an enclosure?
The breaker measures 6 in height, 3.38 in length and 2.75 in width, and weighs 3 lb. Use those figures when you're checking gutter space and door clearance in a small NEMA enclosure, and add for the handle operator or through-door mechanism if you're fitting one.
5) Can I use this Eaton F-frame breaker on a 50 Hz system overseas?
Yes. The FDB2050 carries a 50/60 Hz frequency rating, so it's good on either standard, and it also holds a 250 Vdc rating for DC applications.
