1) What amp ratings does the Eaton HFD three-pole breaker come in?
The HFD 3-pole F-frame runs from 15 A up to 225 A on standard terminals: 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100, 110, 125, 150, 175, 200 and 225 amperes, each with its own catalog number (HFD3015 through HFD3225). Two additional versions, HFD3025L and HFD3225L, use L line-side terminals.
2) What is the difference between the Eaton HFD3225 and the HFD3225L?
The L suffix is the terminal arrangement. HFD3225 is the standard-terminal 225 A breaker; HFD3225L uses L line-side terminals and is listed at a 100 kA interrupting rating. The smaller L version, HFD3025L, is listed at 65 kA. If your panel schedule calls out a specific AIC value, the L versions are the ones with an interrupting rating published.
3) Will an HFD breaker fit in the space my existing F-frame breaker occupies?
The HFD is a Series C F-frame device measuring 4.13 in wide by 3.38 in in length/depth, which is the standard F-frame footprint used across Eaton's Series C F-frame family. It is supplied as a complete breaker ready to install, no separate trip unit or rating plug to order.
4) Is the Eaton HFD a thermal magnetic or electronic trip breaker?
Thermal magnetic. The HFD uses a fixed thermal, fixed magnetic trip unit, meaning neither the overload nor the instantaneous pickup is field adjustable. If your coordination study calls for adjustable instantaneous or an electronic trip unit, this is not the breaker for that spec.
5) Is the Eaton HFD circuit breaker UL Listed for commercial panelboards?
It is UL Listed, which is what an inspector will look for on a feeder or branch breaker in a commercial or industrial panelboard or switchgear lineup.
6) Does the HFD come in single-pole or two-pole versions?

8) What does the ampere rating at 40 degrees C mean when ordering an HFD?
The amperage called out on each HFD is the maximum continuous ampere rating at 40 degrees C ambient, which is how molded case breakers are rated. Pick the rating from that column, for example HFD3070 for 70 A or HFD3150 for 150 A.
