1) Does the Emtek 2403 doorbell come with the button, or do I have to buy that separately?
The 2403 ships as a complete trim set: the rectangular rosette plate, a lighted push button, and matching screws. You are not buying a plate and hunting for a button afterward. Ten finishes: Oil Rubbed Bronze (US10B), Polished Nickel (US14), Satin Nickel (US15), Pewter (US15A), Flat Black (US19), Polished Chrome (US26), Polished Brass Lifetime (US3), Unlacquered Brass (US3NL), Satin Brass (US4), and French Antique (US7). Those are Emtek's standard brass collection codes, so a US15 doorbell reads the same as a US15 handleset on the same door.
4) What is the difference between the Emtek 2403 and the 2400 or 2402 doorbell?
Rosette shape, nothing else. All three are American Classic brass doorbells; the 2400 uses the regular rosette, the 2402 the oval, and the 2403 the rectangular. Emtek also offers 2408 (#8), 2409 (Quincy), 2466 (Watford) and 2404 (Wilshire) in the same American Classic group. Pick the shape that echoes the rosettes on your interior knobs or the escutcheon on the entry door.
5) Is the Emtek 2403 doorbell solid brass or plated pot metal?
Brass, both the material and the substrate. That matters on an exterior casing that gets hand contact and weather every day, and it is why the finish list runs to unlacquered brass (US3NL), which is meant to patina over time rather than hold a coating.

For a heavier, hand-finished look instead, the Sandcast Bronze doorbells run 2421 through 2425 and the Wrought Steel run 2431 to 2433.
9) Does the Emtek 2403 include a chime, or just the button?
Just the exterior side: plate, lighted button, and screws. The chime unit and the transformer are separate items you supply. If you are wiring a new opening from scratch, budget for a transformer and a chime alongside this trim.
