Emtek 3005 Melrose Brass Mortise Entrance Handleset - Dummy

It's a dummy. The 3005 Melrose is non-keyed and has no operating latch function, so it mounts to the door face as a pull and decorative trim only. Use it on the inactive leaf of a pair of doors, on a fixed panel, or wherever you want the look of the Melrose mortise entrance set without a latch or cylinder. If the leaf has to latch and lock, you need the keyed entrance version of the set instead.

Yes, handing is required. Emtek calls for left or right hand on all of its mortise handlesets, and the 3005 Melrose is ordered as LH or RH in every finish. Stand outside the door: if the hinges are on your left it's left hand, hinges on the right is right hand. Get it wrong and the thumbpiece and lever/knob orientation will be backwards on the door.

1-3/4 inches is the standard build, which is the usual exterior door thickness. Thicker doors are handled by calling out the actual thickness when the set is ordered, and there's a door thickness field on the order for exactly that. Measure the stile at the lock edge before you order rather than assuming, especially on custom or solid wood entry doors.
