Emtek 3380 Mortise Lock Box Only, Knob by Knob & Lever by Lever, Includes Face Plate, Trim Plate and Strike Plate. Cylinder Not Included

No cylinder in the box. The 3380 ships as the mortise case itself plus the face plate, trim plate and strike plate, so you supply the cylinder separately, along with whatever knob or lever trim you want on it. Plan on ordering three things to finish an opening: this case, a mortise cylinder, and the knob or lever set.

Two backsets are offered on the 3380 case, 2-1/2 inch and 2-3/4 inch, and you pick one when you order. Measure from the door edge to the center of the knob or lever hole on the door you are replacing and buy to match. The case is cut for standard ANSI A115.1 mortise prep, so if the door already has a mortise pocket to that standard it drops into the same cutout.

Function is a choice you make at order time, and it changes what the lock does, not how it mounts. F20 is the office/entry function and F13 is the apartment/entrance function under the ANSI function codes. Decide which behavior the opening needs before ordering, because the case is built to one function or the other, not switchable in the field.

Handing matters here. The 3380 is ordered as left hand in-swing (LH), left hand out-swing (LHR), right hand in-swing (RH), or right hand out-swing (RHR). Stand outside the door, on the side it swings away from: hinges on your left is left hand, hinges on your right is right hand. Get it wrong and the latch bevel faces the wrong way for the frame.

That is exactly what it is. The 3380 is sold as a replacement mortise case, so if your Emtek trim is fine and the internal mechanism failed, you replace the case and reuse the knobs or levers. Order it to the same backset, handing and function (F20 or F13) as the case coming out. New face plate, trim plate and strike plate come with it.

If the pocket was cut to ANSI A115.1, yes. The 3380 case is made to that standard mortise prep, which is the common commercial and residential mortise cutout, so an existing A115.1 pocket takes it without re-routing. The one thing to confirm is the backset of the existing bore, 2-1/2 or 2-3/4 inch, and order the case to match.

Both, but not mixed. The 3380 case is built for knob by knob or lever by lever, so the same style goes on each side of the door. If you want a knob outside and a lever inside, this is not the case for that job.

Residential. Emtek classes the 3380 mortise case as residential door hardware, so for a commercial opening with a Grade 1 requirement or a fire-rated door assembly you want a commercial mortise lock instead. For houses, condo units and interior residential doors it is the right class of case.

Eleven finishes are offered on the 3380: Flat Black (US19), French Antique (US7), Medium Bronze (MB), Oil Rubbed Bronze (US10B), Pewter (US15A), Polished Brass Lifetime (US3), Polished Chrome (US26), Satin Brass (US4), Satin Nickel (US15), Tumbled White Bronze (TWB) and Unlacquered Brass (US3NL). The finish shows on the face plate and strike, the visible edges at the door edge and jamb, so match those to the trim already on your openings.

Brass. That matters for the two plates you see on the finished opening, the face plate at the door edge and the strike at the jamb, since brass takes and holds the plated finishes consistently across a run of doors.

Fully mechanical. The 3380 is a non-electronic mortise case, so there is no wiring, no transfer hinge and no power supply to plan for, and it keeps working when the building loses power. If you need remote release or access control on the opening, this case will not do it.

Emtek publishes F20 mortise lock installation instructions, and they are the right reference for pocket depth, plate mounting and setting the case in the door before you hang the trim. Worth reading before you cut anything, since a mortise pocket is not a mistake you can undo.
