If you need a working latch, order the passage or privacy version of the STRETTO instead.
2) What door prep does the Emtek STRETTO 4046 narrow trim plate need?
The STRETTO narrow trim uses a narrow 1-1/4 inch door prep with 3-3/8 inch center-to-center hole spacing, not the standard 2-1/8 inch bore most tubular sets use. That matters on narrow stile doors and French doors where a full 2-1/8 inch cross bore would break out the stile. If your door is already bored 2-1/8 inch, this plate will not cover it cleanly.
3) Do I have to specify handing when ordering an Emtek 4046 dummy set?
Handing is required if you pick a lever. Levers are handed left or right so the lever swings down toward the latch edge correctly. Knobs are not handed, so if you choose a knob style the handing call is not a fit issue. Get the handing wrong on a lever and the trim points the wrong way on the door.
4) Which knobs and levers can I put on the Emtek 4046 STRETTO plate?
Any Emtek brass knob or lever can be ordered on the 4046 plate, so you can match the knob or lever already used elsewhere in the house and just change the trim shape. The whole set is brass.
