Emtek 4043 STRETTO Narrow Trim Lockset, 1-1/2" x 11" Arched Non-Keyed, Brass Tubular, Dummy Single Sided

Dummy means there is no latching or locking mechanism operated by the trim, and single sided means trim is furnished for one face of the door only. The 4043 is a non-keyed dummy set, so the knob or lever is fixed and used as a pull. Typical uses are inactive leaves of a pair, closet and pantry doors, and french door slabs where a separate catch or roller holds the door.

That is what it is built for. The STRETTO arched trim measures 1-1/2 x 11 inches, and the set uses narrow 1-1/4 inch door preps with 3-3/8 inch center-to-center hole spacing rather than the standard 2-1/8 inch bore. On a narrow stile door that is the difference between a plate that fits the stile and one that overhangs the glass.

Handing is required if you choose a lever. Levers are handed left or right; knobs are not. Determine hand from the outside of the door: hinges on the right is right hand. Order the wrong hand on a lever and the lever points up instead of down.

It ships as a complete set including the latch and strike plate along with the arched narrow trim. You still choose the inside trim style, since the knob or lever is selected separately as part of the order.

Any Emtek brass knob or lever can be ordered with the 4043 plate, so you can match the trim to whatever style is already running through the house. Lever choices include Aurora, Bryce, Cimarron, Cody, Durango, Lariat, Mariposa, Montrose, Teton and Yuma; knobs include Butte, Egg, Round, Winchester, Bristol, Hampton, Lowell, Windsor, Astoria, Diamond, Georgetown, Modern Disc, Modern Square, Old Town and Providence.

It is a residential product. For apartment interiors, model units and single-family work it is appropriate, but for a commercial corridor or any opening that needs a graded cylindrical lock, specify a commercial Grade 1 or Grade 2 lockset instead. The 4043 is a non-keyed dummy with no locking function at all.

No. The 4043 is non-keyed and has no cylinder, so it cannot be keyed or added to a keyed system. If you need a key on that leaf, choose a keyed entry or a keyed narrow trim set instead and keep the 4043 for inactive or pull-only doors.

Tubular. It is a bored tubular set, so it installs into drilled holes rather than a routed mortise pocket, using the narrow 1-1/4 inch prep with 3-3/8 inch hole spacing. If your door is already mortised for a rectangular lock body, this is not a drop-in replacement.

Three finishes: Flat Black (FB), Medium Bronze (MB) and Tumbled White Bronze (TWB). All three are on a solid brass substrate, which is worth knowing if you are matching living finishes that will patina over time.
