It's a dummy trim, non-keyed. The 4041 STRETTO narrow trim has no working latch function at the knob or lever, so it is used on a door that doesn't need to latch or lock, such as a fixed inactive leaf of a pair, a closet door with a ball catch, or a pantry door. If you need the door to latch closed or to lock, choose a passage or privacy version instead.

Handing is required if you pick a lever. Levers are handed left or right and a right hand lever installed on a left hand door points the wrong way. Knob styles are not handed, so if you order the 4041 with a knob the handing question goes away.
