Emtek 8041 STRETTO Narrow Trim Lockset, 2" x 10" Modern Rectangular Non-Keyed, Brass Tubular, Dummy Single Sided

No door prep is needed. The 8041 STRETTO narrow trim set is surface mount, so it sits on the face of the door rather than dropping into a 2-1/8 inch cross bore. That is what makes it usable on doors that were never drilled for hardware, and on slabs too narrow for a standard rosette.

Dummy function, so there is no latch action. The knob or lever is fixed and the door is held shut by something else, typically a ball catch, roller catch, or magnetic catch. Use it on a closet door, a pantry, a false door of a pair, or anywhere you want the look of the STRETTO trim without a latching mechanism. If you need the door to actually latch, order the passage or privacy version instead.

Four choices are required. Finish, one of seven: Oil Rubbed Bronze US10B, Polished Nickel US14, Satin Nickel US15, Flat Black US19, Polished Chrome US26, Unlacquered Brass US3NL, or Satin Brass US4. The knob or lever style for the inside trim. Handing, right or left. And the door thickness range. Handing is called out because a lever has to point the right way; on a knob it still gets specified on the order.

The inside trim is chosen from the full Emtek brass knob and lever range, 89 styles covering modern bars and knurled knobs, classic levers like the Cortina, Milano and Turino, traditional knobs like the Providence and Waverly, and crystal knobs including Georgetown, Hampton and Old Town. So if the passage and privacy sets elsewhere in the building already use an Emtek brass knob or lever, you can carry the same style and finish onto the dummy openings.

Single sided. You get trim for one face of the door only, so a closet or pantry door with a blank back is covered by one set. For a double door or a pass-through where both faces need trim, order two sets, one per side, and match the handing to each face.

It ships as a complete set including the latch and strike plate along with the trim. The knob or lever you select is part of the set. Since the dummy trim does not latch, plan on a ball catch or roller catch to hold the door closed, that is not part of the set.

Both the trim and the substrate are brass. Unlacquered Brass US3NL is a living finish, it will darken and patina with handling rather than staying bright, which is the intent of that finish but not what a property manager wants if every unit has to look identical for years. For consistency across a fleet, the plated finishes hold their appearance: Oil Rubbed Bronze US10B, Polished Nickel US14, Satin Nickel US15, Flat Black US19, or Polished Chrome US26. Note this is a residential lockset, not a commercial grade one.

No. The 8041 is non-keyed and non-electronic, there is no cylinder and no way to add one. It is a tubular dummy trim. If the opening needs to lock, look at a keyed entry or a privacy set in the same STRETTO narrow trim style so the plate and the knob or lever still match across the doors.

Narrow trim is the right call when the stile is too slim for a round rosette to sit clean, which is the usual case on French doors, glass front doors, and slab doors with a narrow lock rail. The 8041 plate is 2 inches wide, so it stays inside the stile instead of running over the glass stop. A standard rosette lockset needs the wider stile and a full bore. Where you have a normal wide stile door and no clearance problem, a rosette set is the simpler pick.
