Both work. The Greeley grip by grip handleset ships standard with a 2-3/8 inch backset latch, and a 2-3/4 inch backset is selectable at order time at no change to the part. Measure from the door edge to the center of the 2-1/8 inch cross bore: 2-3/8 is the common residential bore, 2-3/4 shows up on heavier or thicker doors. Pick the one your existing prep already has and the handleset drops into it.
2) What door thickness does the Emtek Greeley 453333 entrance handleset work on?
Doors from 1-3/8 to 2 inches. Standard build is for 1-3/4 inch, which covers most exterior entry doors, so if your slab is thicker than that you state the actual thickness when you order and the set is built to it. A 1-3/8 inch door, common on older or interior applications, is also inside the range.
3) Can the Emtek Greeley handleset be keyed into my existing Weiser or Kwikset-keyed house?
Emtek builds the Greeley with a Schlage C cylinder as standard, and a Weiser WR5 keyway is available as a no-upcharge substitution. If the rest of your doors run on a Weiser system, take the WR5 option and the handleset keys into that existing system on the same key. If your other locks are Schlage C, leave it standard. Keyed alike and keyed different are both order options, and you can supply a key code to have it cut to an existing system.
4) What is the center-to-center spacing on the Emtek Greeley handleset, and will it cover my old handleset's holes?
5-1/2 inches center to center between the upper and lower mounting points. That is the number to check against your existing plate before you order, since a handleset with different spacing means new through-bores in the door face. The cross bore is 2-1/8 inches, which is the standard bored-lock prep, so a door already prepped for a tubular lock takes the latch without redrilling that hole.
5) What does grip by grip mean on an Emtek entrance handleset, and how is it different from a grip with a knob or lever inside?
Grip by grip puts a full thumbpiece grip handle on both faces of the door instead of a grip outside and a knob or lever inside. It reads the same from the street and from the entry hall, which is why it gets specified on heavy rustic or double-face-visible front doors. The tradeoff: it is a made-to-order custom function at Emtek, not a stock configuration, so it carries extra build time that an inside-knob or inside-lever handleset does not. If nobody sees the interior face, an ordinary handleset is the simpler order.
6) Is the Emtek 453333 single cylinder, and does that mean a thumbturn inside?
Single cylinder, yes. Key on the outside, thumbturn on the inside, so no key is needed to get out. That is the normal choice for an entry door, and it is the one you want if there is glass near the lock only where local code permits a thumbturn. The lock function is entry: the latch is keyed and locks from the exterior.
7) Is the Emtek Greeley 453333 a mortise lock or a tubular lock?
